Well, dang the bad luck! We really had a good car on Saturday,
even after I ran into the back of Johnny Benson. I hate
getting caught in a wreck, especially one right at the
beginning of the race. We were still lucky that the radiator
wasn't damaged, and even though the front of the car was
crushed, the car still drove pretty good. I was feeling
good about how we were able to get back up in the top
ten, then the gear broke and we had to come in and fix
that. My crew and the guys on the 20 car worked real hard
to get me back out there and we were able to pick up a
few spots.
On another note, this Wednesday will be the one year anniversary
of the tragic events that happened on September 11, 2001.
I will never forget that day as long as I live. I was
stuck in Kansas City testing and ended up having to drive
to North Carolina. All I could think about was getting
back to my family, and all the people who lost their lives
in New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania, as well as
all the families affected. I hope that everyone takes
approriate time to remember and reflect on what has happened
to us all over the past year. I also hope that if given
the opportunity you will thank your police officers, firefighters,
and emergency officials for the great work they do everyday.
I'm extremely honored to be running a special Let's Roll
paint scheme at the MBNA All-American Heroes 400 at Dover.
Todd Beamer should be a roll model to us for the courage
that he and the other passengers on Flight 93 a year ago.
Please stay tuned to the website because we will be auctioning
off the firesuit and helmet that I will wear honoring the
Todd Beamer Foundation.
Talk to you after New Hampshire...
