Well, as bad
as this past weekend was, I guess it could have been
worse than finishing 22nd. However, anytime we wipe
out a primary car in practice and get in a wreck on
the 7th lap of the race, it is very frustrating and
disappointing.
After
the wreck, we really had no shot at a good finish, but
I'm proud of how hard the our guys worked on the car
during all those pit stops. It would have easy to have
said the day the done but we didn't and ended up picking
up a lot of spots.
As many of you know we are making a lot of changes to
the team for 2003. We will be driving the Monte Carlo
instead of the Grand Prix and now Jimmy Makar got a
promotion to team manager and we will be getting a new
crew chief for the 18 car. Jimmy has been my crew chief
since I started here at Joe Gibbs Racing and it will
be different working with someone else. But I am looking
forward to getting the most out of the rest of this
season and then getting to work on 2003. You just can't
sit still in Winston Cup racing and we are moving full
speed ahead at getting us back to the winners circle.
Did
everyone see how much my helmet and fire suit went for
in the auction? WOW, I'm proud of everyone who has supported
the Todd Beamer Foundation and I have to say thank you
to everyone who has helped out. We raised more than
$49,000 for the kids. Awesome!
Talk to you after Talladega...
