Sorry for the delay everyone. It has been quite a busy
summer for myself and the #18 Interstate Batteries team.
I took the time to read your replies to what you wanted
to read about. And over the next few weeks I will try
to answer some of your questions and include your suggestions
in this diary.
It
seems that you would like to know more about what is
happening with my family. I am not going to write about
my family. When I chose to go racing I made a choice
to live a part of my life in the public eye. It was
a trade off. I race, you read about me. I understand
that and I accept it. But my family, especially my kids,
did not have that same choice. So I ask for your understanding
and respect their privacy. Let's just talk about my
career and stuff that happens on the track.
So
I'm sure ya'll would like to know what has been going
on, right?
Well, just like the beginning of this season, I have
been focusing mostly on racing and I think that it has
worked. Fatback and I have really gelled and are having
the results that we want, except for the last few races.
The competition in Winston Cup is so tight these days
that sometimes it comes down to a split-second decision
and taking a chance in order to get up to the front.
However, it doesn't always work out, like last weekend
at the Brickyard, but that call had to be made and it
was the right one at the time. I can't tell you of all
the brilliant calls that have been made this season
that got us the win at Atlanta and all those top-fives.
I know that we are going to get back to finishing in
the top five week in and week out just like we did in
the first half of the season. And even though we've
dropped to 6th in points I'm confident that we are going
to continue to improve and be more competitive. There
is no one in that garage, except maybe me, that wants
to win more than Fatback.
Hope everyone is doing well out there and please keep
sending your suggestions to the webmaster.
