Labonte Qualifies 27th for Chevy American Revolution 400

RICHMOND, Va., Friday, May 14, 2004 – Bobby Labonte qualified 27th for the Chevy American Revolution 400 during Bud Pole Qualifying May 14 at Richmond International Raceway in Richmond, Va.

Labonte turned a lap of 21.112 seconds, 127.889 mph in the No. 18 Interstate Batteries Chevrolet. He will start on the inside of Row 14 next his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate, Tony Stewart..

“It’s a little disappointing,” Labonte said. “The new surface and the heat made for a pretty slick racetrack. We’re starting in the back, but, we came from the back in California and got a top-five. Well try and do that again here and keep moving up in the points.”

Rookie Brian Vickers won the Bud Pole at 20.772, 129.983.

The race starts at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast live on FX and MRN.
