Labonte Qualifies 12th at Historic Michigan
BROOKLYN, Mich., Friday, June 18, 2004 - Bobby Labonte qualified 12th for the DHL 400 during Bud Pole Qualifying June 18 at historic Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Mich.
Labonte turned a lap of 37.966 seconds, 189.643 mph in the No. 18 Interstate Batteries Chevrolet. He will start on the outside of Row 6 next to 2004 Daytona 500 winner Dale Earnhardt Jr.
"It wasnt too bad," Labonte said. "We picked up a little bit from practice. The guys worked hard on the Interstate Batteries Chevrolet. I wish we could have gotten a little bit more out of it, but, were glad we got out of it, what we got out of it."
Four-time NEXTEL Cup Champion Jeff Gordon won the Bud Pole at the legendary 2-mile oval with a time and speed of 37.723, 190.865.
The DHL 400 starts at 1 p.m. (EST) Sunday and will be broadcast live on FOX and MRN.
