Labonte Qualifies 10th for Save Mart 250
BROOKLYN, Mich., Friday, June 18, 2004 Bobby Labonte qualified 10th for the Save Mart 350 during Bud Pole Qualifying June 18 at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif.
Labonte turned a lap of 1 minute, 16.873 seconds, 93.193 mph the No. 18 Interstate Batteries Chevrolet. He will start on the outside of Row 5 next to veteran Joe Nemechek.
"We slowed down a little bit from practice, Labonte said. We kind of wish we could have done some more things to the car, but the good thing is, we've got tomorrow. We got our one lap in and tomorrow, we'll work on it and get ready for Sunday. All in all, it wasn't bad and we've got a good starting spot for Sunday."
Four-time NEXTEL Cup Champion Jeff Gordon won the Bud Pole with a track-record time and speed of 1:15.968, 94.303.
The Save Mart 350 starts at 4 p.m. (EST) Sunday and will be broadcast live on FOX and PRN.
