Labonte Qualifies 20th for Siemens 300

LOUDON, N.H., Friday, July 23, 2004 Bobby Labonte qualified 20th for the Siemens 300 during Bud Pole Qualifying July 23 at New Hampshire International Speedway in Loudon, N.H.

Labonte turned a lap of 29.263 seconds, 130.158 mph in the No. 18 Interstate Batteries Chevrolet.

This morning we did mostly race runs in practice, Labonte said. We were just trying to feel things out. We probably still haven't gotten as comfortable in that mode. We went to qualifying mode, but didn't get as good a run as we would have liked."

Ryan Newman won the Bud Pole with a time and speed of 28.776, 132.360 mph. Labontes teammate, Tony Stewart, driver of the No. 20 Home Depot Chevrolet, qualified ninth at 29.062, 131.058.

The Siemens 300 starts at 2 p.m. (EDT) July 25 and will be broadcast live on NBC and MRN.
