Labonte Qualifies 27th for Checker Auto Parts 500 at Phoenix
AVONDALE, Ariz., Friday, Nov. 5, 2004 – Bobby Labonte qualified 27th during Bud Pole Qualifying Nov. 5 at Phoenix International Raceway in Avondale, Ariz.
Labonte turned a lap of 27.324 seconds, 131.752 mph in the No. 18 Interstate Batteries Chevrolet.
“We didn’t run like we wanted to,” Labonte said. “We were faster in practice and lost three tenths of a second in qualifying. That’s a little disappointing. But, we’ll see what we can do on Sunday.”
Labonte will start on the inside of Row 14 next to veteran Kurt Busch. Labonte’s teammate, Tony Stewart, qualified sixth in The Home Depot Chevrolet with a lap of 26.980, 133.432.
The Checker Auto Parts 500 starts at 3 p.m. (EST) Nov. 7, and will be broadcast live on NBC and MRN.
