Cheerios® Race For Books Kicks Into High Gear
Books Doubled in Final 10 Races when Labonte Finishes in the Top 10!
Minneapolis, Minn. (September 12, 2007)- The Cheerios® Race For Books program, which has already raised more than 300,000 books for children in need this season, is kicking into high gear for the last 10 races of the season.
Cheerios and nonprofit partner First Book® have already donated 43 books for every lap that Bobby Labonte and the #43 Cheerios/Betty Crocker Dodge team have completed this season. And beginning this weekend at the New Hampshire International Speedway, Cheerios and First Book will double the number of books they donate for every Top 10 finish the team achieves from now through the last race at the Homestead-Miami Speedway on November 18.
“It’s been great to have the opportunity to raise so many books for children so far this season, and help call attention to the importance of books and reading in helping kids get a good start in life,” said Labonte. “Our performance has greatly improved lately, and we are really pumped to know that when we finish in the top 10 in these final races, we can earn even more books for these kids,” said Labonte.
Labonte and the #43 Cheerios/Betty Crocker Dodge team had some of their best runs in the final 10 races in 2006. They recorded four top-10 and two top-five finishes. The recent addition of new crew chief Doug Randolph has helped Labonte to two top-10 finishes in the last four races. |
