The wind and rain of Monday moved out and made way for cold weather during the second day of NASCAR Preseason Thunder testing at the Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway. With the colder temperatures came a track that had lots of grip and produced higher speeds than the previous day. This was the final day for testing at Las Vegas before the circuit moves to the 2-mile California Speedway in Fontana, Calif.

Bobby Labonte and the No. 43 Cheerios/Betty Crocker Dodge team were one of the first cars on the track in the morning session. Crew chief Jeff Meendering had a “laundry list” of items to try and they wasted no time in getting started. In the morning session Labonte clocked in with a time of 29.863 seconds, or 180.826 mph. His fast lap of the day came after lunch when he posted a time of 29.444 seconds, or 183.399 mph.

“Today was a good day for the No. 43 Cheerios/Betty Crocker Dodge team,” sounded crew chief Jeff Meendering. “We really went to work on some front-end geometry stuff and got the car comfortable for Bobby, especially getting into the corners. When they banked this track your entry into the corners became really important because of the speed you now carry. And I think we learned a few things that will help us when we get to Fontana on Thursday.”
