Petty Enterprises enjoyed their best qualifying day of the 2008 Sprint Cup season during Friday’s time trials for the Save Mart 350 at the Infineon (Ca.) Raceway. Bobby Labonte and the No. 43 Cheerios/Betty Crocker Dodge team will start the race from the fourth position. Terry Labonte, who finished third in this race in 2006, will roll his No. 45 Wells Fargo Dodge off from the 11th position.
“That lap didn’t feel fast from the seat,” said B. Labonte. “I was surprised when I got out of the car. I knew we had a good car because we practiced well, but I didn’t think it would qualify in the top-5. That means we’ll start the race with the track position in our favor. I’m looking forward to the practice sessions tomorrow so we can get the car dialed in.”
Dodge Motorsports driver Kasey Kahne won his second pole in the last three races. Jimmie Johnson and Kurt Busch round out the top-three qualifiers.
Sunday’s race will be televised live on TNT Sports. It will be broadcast live on the Performance Racing Network (PRN) and Sirius Channel 128. Pre-race coverage is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. (EST). |
